Vina Yun

Vienna in the 1970s. Long before hi-tech made in Korea, kimchi hype and "Gangnam Style", the first Korean nurses came to Austria as "guest workers". Vina Yun's "Homestories" tells of this little-known migration history and of the upbringing of the children of the immigrants of that time, the so-called second generation - between Bruno Kreisky and "Kottan ermittelt," everyday racism and "Rennbahn-Express," Waldheim affair and Whitney Houston. A semi-documentary comic about experiences of (post-)migration as well as generational relations and family relationships in the diaspora.

Vina Yun, born 1974, Asian Viennese, Woman of Color, Second Generation Korean Immigrant. She works as a journalist and author and is particularly interested in feminism in theory and practice, the critique of racism, queer politics and pop culture. She was also involved as an editor in numerous alternative media projects, including MALMOE, an.schläge, dieStandard.at and migrazine.at. In addition, she earned her bread and butter at various festivals in the arts and culture sector. When she's not dedicating herself to texts, she spins old-fashioned disco vinyl as a DJ.
