Nazanin Mehraein

As a kültüř gemma! fellow, Nazanin Mehraein worked for six months at the Schubert Theater, where she starred as a puppeteer in the play MAY BE, directed by Simon Mausenburgen. For her main project, she directs and performs the play "Ashimashi Sparrow". The play is based on a philosophical, ancient and slightly grotesque Persian folk story in which the main character is a sparrow who once found a golden coin on the ground and visits various people to share his find with them.

Nazanin Mehraein is a theater artist/director and multimedia artist born in Tehran, Iran. After studying performance art and puppetry in Tehran, she currently lives in Vienna and is studying Transdisciplinary Art at the University of Applied Sciences for her Master's degree. She also works as an art director at 1001 Suitcases, a company based in Seattle, USA. Nazanin Mehraein's work focuses on storytelling, many of her works contain autobiographical stories.
