Jelena Micić
In the course of her fellowship at the IG Bildende Kunst, Jelena Micić worked on a publication that accompanied and complemented the exhibition "A Call to Save: A Safe Place," curated by Carla Bobadilla, and appeared in part in the magazine "Blickpunkt". The publication "The Artist Fee" included works and texts, both by Micić herself and by artists* she selected. In February 2019, Micić opened her own exhibition at the IG Gallery titled "kunstnah/kunstfern," an installation of several of Micić's works addressing the situation of migrant artists* in Vienna. As a supporting program to the exhibition, Micić organized an artist roundtable on the topic "Procastination: "Clichée and Reality".
Jelena Micić was born in 1986 in Knjaževac, Serbia. She graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (2020), Textual Sculpture class (Heimo Zobernig). She holds an MA in Philosophy (2012) and graduated in Philology of Scandinavian Languages (2010) from the University of Belgrade. From 2016 to 2017 she worked as a teaching assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the class of Figurative Painting. Jelena Micić is the founder of the informal group UMETNIK*.
