Jaqueline Ejiji

The play „Unerhörte Gedanken, unerhörtes Leben“ (Unheard thoughts, unheard life) is a five-act play. Monologues from the perspective of Josefine Soliman, a Black Viennese woman from the late 18th century, are brought to the stage in a multimedia setting. Stylistic devices of shadow theater, puppet theater and bourgeois tragedy are used dramaturgically. Song lyrics, music, and image collages are also used to make the unspeakable sayable. For this, a collective of Black women artists worked together for half a year. We want to tell, instead of being told! On stage we want to visit, at least temporarily, a fantastic place of healing. This story is dedicated to Black people. Allies are welcome.

Black history in the capitals of empires has been the focus of Jaqueline Ejiji's interests during her studies. Her final thesis developed into a biographical-city-colonial-historical work on Hanover/Germany. Biographical material on the life of a Black German structured the framework. In 2013 Jaqueline Ejiji came to Vienna to work as a university assistant. WE DEY e.V., of which Ejiji is a board member, has now been in existence for some years. In a queerfeminist collective of Color, Wey Dey offers and performs a platform for contemporary art by Black and People of Color. One of Ejiji's concerns is to honor previous Black feminist activism in Vienna, to situate her own projects in traditions, and to appropriate them for the stage play.
