"If you wanna be my lover" tells stories of queer (non-)love and desire from the perspective of multiple marginalization. The result is a collection of three photo love stories that focus on narratives that are loving, playful, authentic, and intersectional. They focus primarily on mental health, autism, disability, polyamorous relationships, needs and expectations (and how they don't always match up), being Black & of Color, and dating. Real-life portrayals away from the pressure to perform, idealized and normalized forms of relationships, and romanticized transgressive love. The taken-for-granted nature of what we define as romantic love and desire is critiqued. Because politics versus love & desire? These are not mutually exclusive, they are directly linked.
Edamwen is a German-born Afro-European living in Vienna. They grew up constantly changing schools, homes and families. Moving to Austria and being exposed to an even more right-wing and conservative society led to a need to connect with others and be part of a community The last few years they spent learning, working, and engaging in queer_feminist_left_BPOC spaces. They are and have been part of several activist groups. Right now Edamwen Osakwe is focused on consulting, working with LGBTQIA* youth and how to make spaces more accessible.
