Chantelle-Lavel Boyea
As part of her fellowship at Kunsthalle Wien, Chantelle Lavel Boyea worked on her new film project "On Learning a Language," which explores the experiences of migrant women in Vienna. The project, which was part of the exhibition 'How to live together' and the associated Community College, hosted film workshops, screenings and discussions.
Chantelle Lavel Boyea is a Vienna-based artist from London who works with audiovisual media and communication. She began her film studies at 17 and graduated from the University of Kent, Canterbury with a Bachelor in Film Studies in 2011. Since then, she has made a wide variety of social and cultural film projects. In 2015, she coordinated a multimedia campaign by the British Film Institute (BFI) and Doc Next Network (funded by the European Culture Foundation). The campaign, titled "Pack up move out No!" addressed the gentrification of deprived neighborhoods in London and the housing crisis, in conjunction with the Radical Democracy: Reclaiming the Commons network, which focused on equally urban issues in Turkey, Poland and Spain. The films were presented to the European Parliament in 2015.
