Dunia Sahir (they/them) is a Slovenian-Italian-Moroccan artist, scientist and researcher based in Vienna. They are generally interested in topics that touch upon identity and forms of nomadism we carry within us and inherit. Inspired by the legacy of predecessors who have empowered marginalized communities and fought for their lands, Sahir’s projects emphasize the importance of reclaiming one’s history as a form of resistance. They emphasize a collective aspect and process of narrating from the clear positionality of a queer diaspora migrant in Vienna. In their present work within the scholarship, Sahir explores the idea of reclaiming processes of knowledge-making through conversation and community. An exchange of experience, dreams, memory, grief and care.
